Systemic Predictive Safety Analysis of Pedestrian Crashes for Montgomery County’s Vision Zero Program

Source: Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board

Presents the results of a systemic safety analysis that produced two pedestrian-related safety performance models in Montgomery County, MD: motor vehicle crashes with pedestrians at intersections at night, and through-movement motor vehicle crashes with pedestrians at road sections. Identifies key variables such as motor vehicle and pedestrian volumes, proximity to transit, and crosswalk locations. Highlights how these results can guide proactive safety improvements and systemic data collection methods for county-level Vision Zero efforts.
